How Do You Reface Cabinets?

Cabinet refacing is an alternative to cabinet replacement and installation that delivers the new cabinets you want at a fraction of the cost, in a shorter time frame, and with much less disruption to your daily life. If you own a home or business in the Delaware Valley and want your cabinets refaced, turn to the professionals at CPOS Refacing. Our team has extensive experience with custom cabinet refacing and delivers impeccable workmanship and a professional finish with each and every job. We’re often asked how do you reface cabinets, and it’s important that our clients know that we use proprietary methods that have been proven and refined over many years in business.

Measure Your Cabinets Precisely

CPOS Refacing never takes a cookie-cutter approach to refacing cabinets but rather custom-makes all of the materials we’ll need based on your unique kitchen and existing cabinets. The first step then is to take detailed measurements. Accuracy is key as it ensures that all of your new doors, drawers, and other refacing materials fit exactly, which is crucial to delivering a professional aesthetic.

Custom Build Your Cabinet Doors

When prospective customers ask us how do you reface cabinets, they’re often surprised and pleased to learn that we replace all of the cabinet doors and drawers with custom-made materials. The alternative to this is refinishing, which isn’t suitable for all cabinets, limits your design options, and is unable to hide imperfections in the existing surfaces. All of the components we use are made by hand by our partner Keystone Wood Specialties, which has more than 50 years of experience. They specialize in wood cabinet doors and drawer fronts—no laminate—and also make the crown and rail molding we need.

Prep the Installation

Once your custom-made materials arrive, we’ll prep your home for installation. Our team will use protective coverings to shield your floors, countertops, and other surfaces. We’ll remove all of the old hardware, cabinet doors, drawer fronts, boxes, and slides. CPOS Refacing also uses state-of-the-art dust control equipment in order to keep it isolated to the kitchen. In addition, we’ll perform all work that we can outdoors to keep as much of the dust out of your home as possible.

Install Your New Doors & Components

Once the prep is complete, we hang the new cabinet doors. We fill in any old hinge holes so that it looks as if they were never there.  Our team then installs the new drawer slides, boxes, and fronts; covering your existing cabinet boxes with a wood veneer so they match flawlessly. We even paint all the inner lips for a complete look. Our installers then put in the crown, rail, and other molding, giving a custom finished look. Finally, we add new knobs, pulls, and other handles to enhance the transformation.  For the average home, this process takes 3-5 days, and we ensure that your kitchen is minimally disrupted while we are there.
